When a friend or family member faces difficult times such as the loss of a loved one, illness or a marriage break-up, it can be hard to know how to pray. Also on this page is a short film with a prayer for strength for those who are grieving, and bible quotes to meditate on God's strength, suitable for including in a card or message. There is also a prayer you can pray for a friend going through a hard time, a prayer for patience and strength and the famous "Serenity Prayer" for courage and wisdom. Finally, there is the beautiful daily prayer by St Richard and a short prayer for mental and physical strength when at work.
Merciful God, in the birth of your Son Jesus Christ in Bethlehem you became one of us; you shared our joy, suffering and pain. We thank you for taking refuge in Egypt and for identifying yourself with refugees and victims of political power. We thank you for your suffering on the cross and for identifying yourself with those who suffer from injustice and live under occupation.
May all beings everywhere plagued with sufferings of body and mind quickly be freed from their illnesses. May those frightened cease to be afraid, and may those bound be free. May the powerless find power and may people think of befriending one another. May those who find themselves in trackless, fearful wildernesses—the children, the aged, the unprotected—be guarded by beneficent celestials, and may they swiftly attain Buddhahood.
Peace and Universal Love is the essence of the Gospel preached by all the Enlightened Ones. The Lord has preached that equanimity is the Dharma. I forgive all creatures, and may all creatures forgive me. Unto all have I amity, and unto none, enmity. Know that violence is the root cause of all miseries in the world. Violence in fact is the knot of bondage. "Do not injure any living being." This is the eternal, perennial, and unalterable way of spiritual life. A weapon, however powerful it may be, can always be superseded by a superior one; but no weapon can be superior to nonviolence and love.
O heavenly Father, you give your children sleep for the refreshing of soul and body: Grant me this gift, I pray; keep me in that perfect peace which you have promised to those whose minds are fixed on you; and give me such a sense of your presence, that in the hours of silence I may enjoy the blessed assurance of your love; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
Loving God, please grant me peace of mind and calm my troubled heart. My soul is like a turbulent sea. I can't seem to find my balance so I stumble and worry constantly. Give me the strength and clarity of mind to find my purpose and walk the path you've laid out for me. I trust your Love God, and know that you will heal this stress. Just as the sun rises each day against the dark of night. Please bring me clarity with the light of God.
You have blessed us with dreamers who arrived here as children and today seek a way to make their contribution to our common life. We pray for them now. We pray that they will be allowed to work, study and live in safety. We pray that those in authority may turn away from the demons of prejudice, fear and scarcity, that they will set their hearts on acts of mercy. We pray that you will give us vision and inspire our concrete actions as we seek to realize our goal of liberty and justice for all.
I lost my father in 2013. We were very close, spoke almost everyday. I am not going to lie to you it wrecked me. I am also in my 50s. I don’t know if you have sisters or brother’s, but one day I started texting them what I call Dadisums…Just funny things he use to say like “It’s like catching lighting in a bag” and they would respond with other ones…It’s makes us laugh and remember him fondly…Takes some of the pain away, at least for us.And we know one one of us starts these round of texts it a way of telling the other person we are missing him today…
Father I know that in Your word it tells us not to worry about anything – but rather to cast all of my burdens upon You - and Father I truly want to do this – but at times I find it so difficult to put this into practice – Lord, at times the circumstances that I am facing are very hard to bear and too often I find myself in an attitude of worry and anxiety.

Lean on the Lord each time the grief overwhelms you and hold onto his Word..The Lord has not avandoned you He understands you pain and sadness..He promises to hold you up during this grieving journey..Know that he is s God of restoring all that is broken, Cling to Him.
I would like to thank the contributing team that makes sure our requests are prayed for. I made a request during the middle of this month and the lord has answered. I asked him to have my boyfriend contact me before Christmas. The results did not happen the exact way that I asked for in my request i.e. I am the one who contacted him on Dec 27th, 2010 but I do realize now that my prayer to talk Read More...
These prayers for peace were offered in Assisi, Italy, on the Day of Prayer for World Peace during the U.N. International Year of Peace, 1986. We remember the sacred words and prayers of the world's peoples throughout the ages as they longed and worked for peace. In this present moment, we pause in our own longing to rest from our work and to touch the center. Here and now, we make their words our own. So may our hearts be joined.
I went on this site to seek prayer for my son, who said God had given him the wife he had been waiting for. He remained celibate for 15 years and God showed him his wife to be. There was some dating and then she discovered she was pregnant for her old boyfriend. Feeling obligated, she married the old boyfriend, but was still in love with my son. My son respected her marriage and never spoke to her again for Read More...
Whenever I’m stressed, anxious, or afraid, help me remember to run to you. You're the only one that can calm my fears and end my fretful behavior. Whether in trivial or heavy matters, I know you will not only give me peace; Lord, you will be my peace. And when I draw close to you—in prayer, in reading your Word, in helping another, in taking my mind off myself—you will be there, up close and personal.
